In order to expand its vehicle fleet and become less dependent on rental solutions, EQOS Energie in Belgium is investing in its own Steiger® vehicle for the first time. The RUTHMANNSTEIGER® TBR 230 has been undergoing trials in Maldegem since January to ensure greater flexibility when working on catenary systems in urban areas.
With a working height of 23 m and a reach of 17.5 m, the Steiger® is ideal for demanding applications. “The special thing about the vehicle is that, at less than 3.5 tons, it is lighter than the trucks we have previously used for overhead line construction work,” explains Arne Samijn, Head of the Profit Center Catenary Intra-City Belgium. This facilitates personnel deployment planning and increases availability.
Other advantages include the ability to carry out four movements simultaneously, precise electro-hydraulic basket rotation and a stable construction made of high-strength fine-grained steel. The expansion and modernization of our vehicle fleet is an important step towards providing our employees with the most modern machines and equipment with the latest technology. This gives them premium technology with maximum stability and enables them to improve their working speed. This enables us to achieve top-quality results and work safely,” says Carsten Kuhle, Managing Director responsible for the Rail Technology division.
EQOS Energie is testing the vehicle intensively in order to use it specifically in the rail sector in future and to make its projects more efficient.
