As a municipality, energy provider, infrastructure and signaling contractor, or even as a rental company, you want to use your truck-mounted aerial work platforms as flexibly as possible. Our STEIGER® T 170, designed for 7.49-metric-ton chassis, meets precisely these requirements.
With a total length of 7.48 m, a height of 3.46 m, and a wheelbase of 3.6 m, the T 170 features an extremely compact design while offering impressive performance specifications, including a working height of 17 m and a reach of 12 m within a fully circular working area (100 kg bucket load). These features, combined with the RÜSSEL® that can move 185°, give the T 170 maximum flexibility and maneuverability in daily use.
Another advantage of this truck-mounted platform is its high payload reserve of 600 kg. A wide range of optional equipment—such as box bodies for materials, a cab cover, LED warning lights, aluminum side panels, and basket-type protective guards—can be easily added without exceeding the gross vehicle weight rating.
The necessary stability is ensured by the four hydraulic “vertical supports,” which can be extended and retracted either in unison or individually. The support cylinder is mounted directly to the STEIGER® base frame. This ensures that the vehicle is supported along its entire profile during every operation.
Principle: If there is enough space for the truck, it can be stabilized, allowing the entire working range of the STEIGER® to be utilized. This makes this stabilizer variant ideal for use in moving traffic, such as for maintaining streetlights, transformers, and tree-trimming work. Automatic deployment and retraction, as well as a 5° tilt angle, are also standard features on this model.
The T 170’s work basket also provides an optimal workspace. In addition to a generous 350 kg basket load capacity, the basket-change system is also impressive. Depending on the application, you can choose between a standard aluminum work basket (1.7 m x 0.86 m) or other optional baskets. For example, the extra-wide work basket (2.1 m x 0.86 m), the particularly narrow tree-trimming basket, or the plastic work basket. Thanks to its insulating properties and the standard secondary insulation from the boom to the chassis, this last basket variant is safe for use on live power lines up to 1,000 volts.
The tower, the 2-stage telescopic boom system, and the RÜSSEL ® of the T 170 are made of fine-grained steel. Compared to other models in the T series, the RÜSSEL® and the work platform console have been optimized in specific areas to meet the unique operational requirements of energy providers, municipal utilities, and tradespeople.
The state-of-the-art control panel in the work basket—called the “Cockpit”—gives the T 170 an added level of safety and fatigue-free operation.
Its flexibility in adapting to a wide variety of chassis brands and load capacities—such as MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and DAF—as well as its EURO 6 compliance perfectly round out the T 170’s product portfolio.
