The Office for Landscape Maintenance and Green Spaces already has three TBR 230 HV 5 Hybrid in its fleet, which have now been supplemented by a further five TBR 230 S7 Hybrid. This will be followed by three STEIGER® T330 Hybrid and three T 330 HV12 Hybrid, which were ordered in May 2023.
With five STEIGER®s TBR 230 S7 Hybrid, the City of Cologne’s Department of Landscape Conservation and Green Spaces is supplementing its existing fleet, in which three TBR 230 HV 5 Hybrid are already being used successfully for the maintenance of street trees. Mounted on a Mercedes Benz 7.5 t chassis, the new STEIGER®s will in future be used in Cologne’s urban area for the maintenance of trees in parks and cemeteries with zero emissions.
The City of Cologne is thus continuing to consistently implement its plan to achieve a climate-neutral Cologne by 2035. The Department of Landscape Conservation and Green Spaces has already converted 40% of its hand tools and around 20% of its vehicles to alternative energies, thereby contributing to the savings. The STEIGER®s with RUTHMANN hybrid technology save an average of around 3,000 liters of diesel fuel per vehicle per year, as the devices can be operated electrically via the lithium battery during the 30-minute tree care operations.

“In addition to the elimination of pollutant emissions, the battery-powered devices bring considerable advantages, especially for green maintenance in Cologne’s cemeteries, as citizens and employees can be spared the disturbing noise and exhaust fumes of combustion engines,” says Manfred Kaune, Head of Office.
The new STEIGER® TBR 230 S7 Hybrid with 16.40 meters lateral reach and the RÜSSEL® provide the necessary flexibility for use in urban areas and are ideal for all regular work required by the Office for Landscape Maintenance and Green Spaces. With the 7.5-tonne chassis and the large boxes accessible from both sides, they offer a high payload and plenty of storage space for the required tools and work materials during use.
Another three STEIGER® T 330 Hybrid and three T 330 HV12 Hybrid were ordered in May 2023. We would like to thank the City of Cologne’s Department of Landscape Maintenance and Green Spaces for their renewed trust in our STEIGER®s and wish them many successful jobs!
